Anna McCauley
I make art and trouble on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri people. I work across sculpture, video and performance to create intriguing encounters that puncture the common sense of capitalism. With a penchant for the diagrammatic, I take particular glee in redeploying explanatory imagery to explore relationships between factors that are more than the sum of their parts. While I favour DIY modes of exhibiting my work, such as zines, public interventions and community radio, I’ve been known to dabble in art-adjacent institutions, such as reality TV (Race Against the Tide s3, 2022), sand sculpting competitions (Australian Sand Sculpting Championships 2020, 21, 25, 26), and drive-in take overs (WTS x Felt Space Residency Screening, Coober Pedy Drive In, 2021).
Born into a postmodern era, I am conditioned by fragmentary, internet-inflected aesthetic. I delight in historicising these fragments: in situating them in the constellations of factors make them possible.
